Where Shall I Sit?
I am in a psychiatrist’s large waiting room prior to my appointment. Finally called into his office, I find a large number of choices for sitting. He is standing quietly waiting for me to choose. I realize this is a kind of test. The room is messy with things piled on chairs and an unmade bed with white sheets. I move some things and sit on one of the chairs. We chat about this and that. Then I realize he expects me to initiate anything serious. I like him and feel comfortable. I move to the bed to sit and begin thinking about what I need to examine.
